LOL, this, in combination with their XTH fail, is going to piss off a lot of long-time gameplayers. Don't they even give a SH!T?

Come on people is a single quest being late, and the loss of a few plat and some ToT bags really worth looking like a bunch of sniveling children?
Oh wait, sorry forgot whom I was talking to.

Why is the community turning so damned selfish, why can't anyone think about anything but themselves for once? Why can't you get it that the VAST majority of players simply play the game and doesn't have time to follow the wiki/forums. How does a NORMAL player get to find out about this. This was a Haloween quest that didn't appear until after the event had ended and was then removed shortly afterwards.
Why can't you get this? Too damned selfish is why.

I agree with this as most of my guild never heard of the halloween quest before I told them about it. Why should people who never been on guru or wiki be forced to dig through posts to find out what's going on when anet can just use their announcement tab?
This was pretty poor for communication on Anet's part. Though the reward isn't that big of a deal, the people who missed it can't do the quest until next halloween so they miss out on the action.

Drunkard, the irony of it all is this: Anet stated that this quest chain will be this year only, so there won't be a do-over next year. And Anet has locked many people out of the finale because of their inability to effectively communicate (Lyndsey, I hope you realize that flowery post a few months ago about better communication is about as far from the truth as it gets). So all this time they are spending fixing it will be for naught for the majority of players, since they have locked them out of it with this insane hide and seek quest.

No DUH. I guess you have to daily read some jackasses personal status page (WhoeverTF she is - communication guru?).

Patience has absolutely NOTHING to do with it - the quest was bugged (non-sequential requirement GONE), and is now GONE. Whether it ever kicks in is totally irrelevant.

How come posting on the developer updates page doesn't count as putting it on the official website? They told us to go talk to the steward, they told us he was leaving soon. Just because some people weren't listening doesn't mean A-net wasn't talking.
But I guess people who can't be bothered to listen to announcements can't be bothered to listen to common sense on this forum either.

You missed the whole point of the post. To see what UWSC builds replace the old ones and deal with the skeletons... then act accordingly. Your post is direct proof that if it was their idea, it was a legitimate course of action.
Honestly, if you weren't on any of the times the quest was being offered either because you don't play that often, you were too busy, you don't read wiki/forums, or your guildies didn't know about it and tell you, then you really shouldn't care. We're all busy. If Guild Wars is a priority, you have to keep up on forums or in game. If it's not a priority, that's fine, but expect to miss some things.
It's really not a huge deal.

I'm beginning to suspect the Mad King is behind this chaos, or the legendary Head of Vecna.

Geez, you read forums, but you don't read the OFFICIAL game updates page? How would you know if SF has been nerfed or if something big has happened without taking a peek at the OFFICIAL game updates page?
This isn't Anet's lack of communication. This is your lack of reading and getting to know what the hell is happening.
Don't whine. The thing was all over, the forums, the wiki, the OFFICIAL site.
You dind't read cause you didn't wanted to. Period.

Thats what i was going to point out, yes you can argue the SOON DEPART is pretty vague but you should hazard a guess that you should be quick about getting it.
And bad luck to those who only got it on one character and are pissed because they didn't do it on others. Surely you could switch characters and travel to ToA, if your character doesn't have it then maybe theyre not ready for this? ...Actually just get to Kamadam or LA

I check the forums, I read journals, I read game updates.
but the game update says it that it will soon depart, but has a last word for those willing to battle against dhuum.
I want to battle Dhuum, so when the quest was finally gonna be "active" I would just go with whatever character was needed to kill the guy, get the quest and roll him.
but now I can't get the quest anymore, which is weird and just plain stupid, you would at least expect this guy to give you the reward for the quest.
but that's just logical thinking.

I'm not speaking for myself. But A LOT of people don't even care to read updates. Hell, most people don't travel past LA daily, and if they do, there isn't a 100% chance of seeing the steward.
I still don't see why Anet would want to make the Steward leave, it's not very logical. They could just leave him there and no one would be angry.

Like I said I'm pretty sure anyone (who goes through UW) can battle Dhumm, this quest just gives an extra one-time reward. I'll bet Anet intended this as a "hey this was supposed to be out halloween but we didn't have it ready in time, but here's an extra seasonal reward for those of you who were prepared." Of course Guru being what it is, people see it in the worse possible way.

Oh, cool.
I discovered this stuff just now.
My last login was when Halloween ended.
I don't care much about the quest, but I told this in alliance chat... ROFLMAO, the rage is epic.
They knew about the one time only quests, thanks to the login announcement:
during halloween on the login announcement there was a link to http://www.guildwars.com/events/ingame/halloween_2009/... guess what's on that page? "Brave the dangers of the Underworld on a series of spine-tingling quests for Mad King Thorn, available this Halloween season only.".
* So they played during Halloween and kept an eye for the unique quests.
* When Halloween ended they thought the "unique quests" were over, there were no more to come. Was it wrong to assume that once Halloween ended there were no more quests "available this Halloween only"?
* Then, after Halloween Anet decides to put in the game for a very limited time a steward that gives a "one time only" quest.
GG Anet, you surely know how to give players a great experience.

See, I'm not thinking it's that many people who are left out. This thread only jumped up about 4-5ish pages when the Steward left; that’s not that many compared to most QQ-fests that go on here. One also has to take into account that there seems to be a decent split between those who are angry with A-net and those who aren’t.
I mean, when A-net posts skill changes on the dev updates page, the threads are 20+ pages long. This thread has covered two dev updates (the return and departure of the Steward) and we’ve only made it up to 15 pages. That’s long, but not that long considering the length of the wait. I'm not really feeling like there's all that much outrage from the community.

The problem with this statement is that you completly ignore all of the people WHO AREN'T ON GURU. I wouldn't be suprised when the quest actually starts that people start to realize there actually was a halloween quest. Many of the people on this form are irate that after Anet preached better PR relations the communication seems to have gotten worse for the playerbase.

Now I remember why I hardly read these forums anymore; Does everyone have some intense urge to whine about ANet and their decisions every single time they do anything? It sure seems like it.
Now yes I can understand people being a little upset if they missed the quest but I certainly did not find it that difficult to keep up with and I barely play Guild Wars these days. This is leading up to a very big event after all but some people are really going overboard with the complaining and crying here.
Calm down folks, it's just a game. Take deep breaths =p
Also as far as I am aware, the long wait is to build up the excitement and quite possibly to do the last bit of testing on this final quest before it's put on the live servers, so that's fine with me. Look how long we all waited for GW2 news? Was it not worth the wait after seeing that trailer? =)
